James W Clark Jr.

Sadly, Jim passed away at home after a long illness on September 18, 2024. By God's Grace, he was holding the hand of his beloved wife of 46 years, Bonnie. He was born October 7,1941 in Abington, PA to James Clark, Sr. and Helen Hickman Clark, both deceased. He was of First Presbyterian faith. Besides his wife, Bonnie Peagler Clark, he leaves behind a daughter, April Dutton (Chris) a son, Jimmy Clark, grandsons Christian (Emma) and Steven (Reagan) Clark, all of Summerville, SC., nieces Ashton (Chad) Leedy and Tammy Prox, both of Moncks Corner, SC., nephews Curt Peagler, John Wade Peagler of Lebanon, SC and Dalton, Bryson, Emmett and Elliott Leedy of Moncks Corner. He also leaves his precious dog, Hannah, who has watched over her dad for 13 years. His sister Diane preceded him in death.

Relatives and friends of Jim Clark are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the graveside, Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. He graduated from Olney High in Philadelphia and then earned a BS degree in Occupational Education from Southern Illinois University and a Master of Arts degree in Management from Webster College after his Navy retirement. Jim entered the Navy right out of high school in 1959 and retired as RMC (SS). He participated in the Cuban Crisis in 1962-1963 at Key West, FL. and then volunteered for nuclear submarine duty. He served on the USS Daniel Boone and commissioned the USS Sam Rayburn SSBN 635 at Newport News, VA in 1965. After his military service, Jim served with the Central Intelligence Agency. His duties took him mainly to the Middle East and Africa. After returning to the US, he spent the rest of his career working as a Government Contractor in Charleston, SC.

Jim loved fresh-water bass fishing and always had a bass boat in the driveway. Over the years, he belonged to several local bass clubs. He was a qualified PADA advanced water scuba diver and loved bringing home his treasures from his dives. He and Bonnie became certified wildlife rehabilitators by taking classes at the Columbia Zoo. They cared for many hurt and orphaned babies over the years. Target shooting was a relaxing time when he and Bonnie competed against each other. Also, world travel was on his agenda yearly. Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed back-packing in the jungles of Peru and Venezuela, climbing the Great Wall in China and Macchu Piccu in Peru, traveling throughout Kenya and Tanzania for those special animal photographs, climbing into the Great Pyramid in Egypt, and enjoying unique experiences in Russia and many other countries.

Jim will be truly missed by many. The last few years were physically challenging, but Roper Palliative and Roper Hospice were blessings to the family and cannot be thanked enough for their expert care. Flowers accepted, or donations may be made to Remount Road SPCA.
