Cynthia “Cindy” was born on May 31, 1962 in Jacksonville, NC to Betty Rae Quinn and Bobby Pittman. She had a happy childhood enjoying her time with her family and cousins whenever possible. She graduated from UNC Chapel Hill as a proud Tarheel and went on to pursue a career as a certified legal assist.
After her college graduation, Cindy married the love of her life, James Chiavacci. Together they relocated to Charleston, SC. It wasn’t long before they started their own family. Over the next 12 years, their family would blossom and grow to welcome 4 beautiful children, whom she loved dearly.
Cindy was many things. She was brilliant, loving, devoted, hardworking and she loved to laugh. Her laugh just made you feel good, but she laughed the most when she was with James.
Amongst all of these, Cindy excelled as a wife and mother. Her love and dedication to her family was constantly demonstrated. She offered her unfailing support and effort for all of her children’s sports and endeavors, adapting to overlapping schedules of soccer, baseball, basketball and cross country.
Cindy used her artistic talents to create costumes, uniforms, blankets and other priceless heirlooms still cherished to this day.
Her love for her children propagated the support and mentoring of other youths in local organizations including Scouts and Sunday school teaching.
Each year Cindy looked forward to the annual family vacation to Busch Gardens, VA and making memories that would bond their family together; a tradition still upheld by her children and their spouses.
In her spare time, Cindy also enjoyed going to the local minor league hockey games with her family and was a proud SC Stingrays ticket holder. She enjoyed Nascar races in Darlington as often as possible and local music concerts with her husband.
Cindy was a beautiful woman with a beautiful smile. She will be greatly missed.
Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Rae Quin. She is survived by her devoted husband James; 4 children, Jessica, Alexander, Timothy and Gabriel; her father, Bobby Pittman and sister, Tamara Ann Custy.
