Born in Charleston, SC, Amelia was the daughter of the late William Eugene Morton and Annie May
Samuels. She grew up in the city of North Charleston on Virginia Avenue with her sister and three
brothers - Margret, Jimmy, Willard (Wade), and Clarence (Shorty). She graduated from North
Charleston High School and had many stories about growing up in a small town.
Amelia was a proud, founding member of Northwoods Baptist Church. She was particularly fond of
children and a dedicated nurse.
Amelia is survived by sons, Mark Howard and wife Patsy, Michael Howard and wife Sharlene; daughter,
Yvonne Howard Guignard; 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Carolina Memorial
Funeral Home located at 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. 843-797-2222. A funeral
service will immediately follow in the chapel. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park.
