Thurl Eugene Harris, 68, of Moore passed away Wednesday, April 4 at his home in Moore. He was born October 4, 1943, to Willard Franklin and Leona Francis (Fore) Harris in Oklahoma City. Thurl was a veteran of the United States Army serving for 13 months in Vietnam. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma and attended Southwestern Theological Seminary receiving a master of Divinity degree. He pastored Irving Baptist Church in Ryan, OK, Rexroat Baptist Church in Wilson, OK, and Sharon Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Thurl was director of the Baptist Student Union at Murray State College in Tishomingo and a staff member at the OU Baptist Student Union. He started the Baptist Student Union at Drake University in Des Moines, IA. He worked for the US Postal Service retiring after 21 years of service. He loved the Lord and followed Him with all of his heart.
Thurl is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; his son, Thurl Harris, Jr.; his daughter, Connie Stewart; five grandchildren, Karmeshala, LaKesha, Paige, Aaliyah, and Kobe; his sister, Vicky Harris and brother, James Harris.
He was preceded in death by two sons, David and Christopher Harris; his parents; two sisters, Mary Davis and Lou Coony.
