Mary Ann Hudson (Ryan), age 59, of Norman, gained her wings on May 29, 2021. She was born on January 22, 1962 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and adopted by Doris and Charles Ryan Jr. when she was six months old. She was one of four children. She grew up in the country and loved the outdoors and going to the lake. Mary Ann grew up running track and playing basketball. She graduated from Norman High School in 1980. Mary Ann loved Oklahoma basketball and football, coaching basketball, going to concerts, and going to listen to bands. Mary Ann was a natural born nurturer and blessed with the gift of patience. She worked in childcare/ education for over 40 years working at Middle Earth, Purcell Public Schools, All Saints Catholic School in Norman, and Primrose School of Norman.
On May 27, 1989, Mary Ann married Tommy “Pride” Hudson of Purcell, Oklahoma. Although the two later divorced, the two remained close friends up until her death. Mary Ann became a mother to Kesha Marie Hudson in 1990 and welcomed another daughter, Kelci Patrice Hudson, in 1994. She was very active in her girl’s lives being an assistant troop leader for both girl’s Girl Scouts troops. She never missed a field trip, dance recital, graduation, science fair, or art class. Mary Ann’s pride and joy was her grandson, Aiden (3). Her daughters remember her as a loving mother and grandmother. Her daughters and grandson were Mary Ann’s world, and not a day went by that she didn’t tell them how much she loved them or how proud she was.
Mary Ann is proceeded in death by her parents, Doris and Charles Ryan Jr. She is survived by her daughter Kesha; daughter Kelci and boyfriend Jay Johnson; grandson Aiden Charles Hudson; ex-husband and friend Tommy “Pride” Hudson, his seven siblings, and extended family; her three siblings; and her pets Madison and Goose. She is also survived by her three best friends Patti Spiva- Sandefur, Teresa Bates (Hansmeyer), and Tammy Worthy who loved her so well.
In lieu of flowers, Kesha and Kelci request prayers and that you send a card to someone you love “just because”. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, June 7th at 11 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Norman.
