As a retired Major of the United States Air Force, Jim had a distinguished career, serving 18 months in Saigon, Vietnam, as a Special Agent in the AFOSI, with his last assignment as Chief, Command Post, Misawa, Japan. His assignments included NYC, Griffiss AFB, NY, Maxwell AFB, AL, and Little Rock AFB, AR as a Missile Combat Crew Commander.
He was married to Sandra Byerly, in 1974 for 19 years.
He is preceded in death by his mother Lynda Cole. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved son, Wesley Alexander Cole, Wes’s wife Olethea, and his grandchildren, Nathan, 13, Jordan, 11, and Gabriella 6, his father John S Cole, and brothers, John R, Mike, and Rick.
Jim was known by all for his lifelong love for family, and dogs.
Services will be held for Jim at Primrose Funeral Service, Norman, OK, at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 22, 2019. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA in Jim’s name.
