Donald “Don” LeJeune was a loving, caring, husband, dad, PawPaw, brother, and friend. Don lived joyously in this world. His life did not end with his death. Don passed away on September 1, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest and with the zest for life that he had.
Don’s life began in Bayou Des Allemends, Louisiana. His family later moved to Port Sulphur, Louisiana, where he met his wife, was married on March 16, 1961, and began raising a family of his own. Don served his country in the United States Army beginning July 1957 and was honorably discharged in July 1963. His job as a directional driller in the oilfield took him and his family to Anchorage, Alaska, and Norman, Oklahoma, where he settled and retired. Don spent his time enjoying his family, and fishing and hunting, depending on the season. He often began his day before sunrise launching his boat on the lake to fish, taking his daughters, son, grandchildren, or great grandchildren with him. He always had his faithful companion with him too, “The Boud.” His family is his legacy. He was a great man who taught his family how to live and to love. He was a man who was full of life and enjoyed every moment of it. He was resourceful and adventurous, a master modifier, a boat builder, a great storyteller, a man who knew his way around the kitchen, and a legend in the directional drilling world. He enjoyed his friends and his hunting buddies, making many appearances as the original Ol’ Cajun on the Urban Duckman YouTube channel. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Frances D. LeJeune, his son, Don LeJeune (Lana) and his daughters, Amanda Taylor (Johnny), Julie Hesser (Matt), Marla Sikes (Mike), and Leslie Lozano (Mark). He is survived by his bothers Walter LeJeune (Lois) and Lee LeJeune (Marsha). He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter LeJeune and Lucille (Matherne) LeJeune, his brother Warren LeJeune and his wife Janice LeJeune, and his faithful and forever hunting partner, “The Boud.”
Don has 18 grandchildren, Donnie LeJeune, Sherae LeJeune, Ayden LeJeune, Averie LeJeune, Dace Hosking (Matt), Jack Taylor (Savanna), Dustin Morgan (Leslie), Michaela McKeehan (Chris), Cory Morgan (Araceli), John Hesser, Tyler Sikes, Allie Sikes, Harrison Sikes, Sarah Sikes, Leah Lozano, Thomas Lozano (Molly), Isabel Lozano, and Jack Lozano.
He also has 13 great grandchildren, Easton LeJeune, Emory LeJeune, Brody Crank, Norah Hosking, May Hosking, Derik Speaks, Kaycee Speaks, Grace McKeehan, Claire McKeehan, Henry Morgan, Margaret Lozano, and two on the way.
He is also survived by seven loving nieces and five nephews, who he enjoyed spending time with them every chance he could.
We know from 2 Corinthians 5:8, to be absent from this body is to be at home with the Lord, and John 14:2 tells us that our Father’s house has many rooms and He has prepared a place for us. We can be confident that Don is with his father, mother, brother, cousins, aunts and uncles, and beloved friends that went before him.
John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
