Charles “Charlie” William Henson, 66, of Norman, died Dec. 11, 2013 in Norman. He was born June 18, 1947 to William Benjamin Henson and Emma Louise Wildgrube in Sulphur, Oklahoma where they had met as students at the Sulphur School for the Deaf. He grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Old Classen High in 1966. Charlie joined the Navy and served two tours in Vietnam. Between tours he was introduced to his wife, Alice Lynn Hunter, of 41 years over the telephone. He asked to speak to the shyest girl on the other end. After returning home from his second tour, Charlie flew to meet Alice in Ohio and soon they were married in Oklahoma on June 16, 1972.
His specialty trade was heat and air maintenance. Charlie worked for Liddell Construction, Gordon’s Specialty, and retired from the University of Oklahoma after 25 years of service. Charlie and Alice became active members of the Moose Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Henson; and twin sons, Terry and Jerry Henson.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Alice Henson; daughters, Tonia Kuehn and husband Jerome, and Angela Henson; brother, Roy Henson; half-sister, Jane Stegall; sister-in-law removed, Epsie Henson; nephew, Daniel Henson; niece, Marcie Smith and husband Justin, and great-nephew, Rhett Smith.
