Charles Ray Childress, 83 of Norman died Thursday, 18 November at home in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born August 31, 1938, to Earl and Buluh (Dabney) Childress in Cleveland County, OK. He grew up in Norman and Little Axe helping his father and family work the farm. During his high school years he became involved with the church, attending Bethany Nazarene College and becoming an ordained minister. This led to 10 years in Guatemala Central America, as a missionary with the Church of the Nazarene. Upon returning from mission he returned to Norman where he earned his living as a roofing contractor becoming known as “Charlie the Roofer”. Charles is survived by his wife Estella, two daughters, Beulah Garcia, Imogene (Gina) Wallace, of Norman, OK. Two sons, Earl Childress of San Diego, CA, Ralph Childress of Pocola, OK, and their mother, Donnie Childress-Pirtle. 8 grand children and 2 great grand children.
