Ray M. Elks, age 95, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024 to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ray was born in Grimesland, NC to the late Raymond and Mary Elks. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Vivian Elks; siblings, Gaston Elks, Mary Joyce Wagoner and Darrell Wayne Elks. He was a devoted Christian and loved spreading the word of his Lord and Savior. For many years he was a devoted member of The Gideon’s International and a current member of Kempsville Baptist Church. In his spare time he loved spending time with his family, gardening, bowling and crafts. He is survived by his daughters: Sondra (Harvey Lamb) Phyllis (Jules Nix) and Rose (Jeff Farnham); four grandchildren: Marsha (Robert Grigg), Gloria (Bobby Hooker), Aaron Nix (Elisabeth), Katie (PJ Swanson); and eight great grandchildren: Lily Grigg and Lucas Grigg (by Marsha), Shawn Old, Andrew Old and Allyson Hooker (by Gloria), and Austin Nix, Noah Nix and Paige Nix (by Aaron); his sisters, Julia Rebecca Bateman “Becky” and Delores Little. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all.
A visitation for Ray will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 6-7pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502. A Celebration of Life at 11am, Friday, March 22, 2024 at Kempsville Baptist Church, 5204 Princess Anne Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462. There will be a private burial on March 26, 2024.
