Norma Jean Johnson

CHESAPEAKE -Norma Jean Evans Johnson (Nick) was born to John Henry and Blannie Stewart Evans in Apex North Carolina on February 14, 1933 and departed this life on April 26, 2009. She was baptized and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until she graduated from Berry O’Kelly High School in Method, NC, graduating as an honor student.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband for 56 years, John H. Johnson, two children Avis Krystal Jones and Eric Johnson; one adopted son, Coptel Tompson and three adopted grandchildren, Andre, Austin and Aubrey; one grandson Michael Jones (Shelly); and three great grand children, Patience, Essence and Michael Jr. Two sisters, Margaret Raney of Roselle, NJ and Nellie Jones of Virginia Beach; one brother John Evans (Ada) of Easton, PA; one brother in law, James Johnson (Mabel) of Atlanta, GA; one sister in law, Beatrice Olivier (Albert) of Mesa, AZ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. We loved her, but God loved her best.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday April 29 from 6 to 8 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A service will be held Thursday April 30 at 1 PM in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. Condolences may be offered to the family on-line at www.woodlawngroup.com.
