Virginia Beach-- Larry Moore Mason, On March 1, 2008 Larry Moore Mason , age 73, went to join his beloved wife Audrey with their Father in Heaven. Larry was home surrounded by his loving family when he passed after a long battle with cancer. He was born September 13, 1934 in Norfolk, VA the son of the late Willie Clyde and Melissa Willis Mason. He graduated from Norview High School. Larry's first job was with the Virginia Pilot. He then joined the United States Air Force serving his country proudly from 1956-1977. He served in the Air Force Security Services, and was a two time graduate of the Joint Forces Language School in Monterey, CA. He was stationed in Germany, England, Turkey, and throughout The United States. He spent the last ten years of military service working at NSA in Ft. Meade, MD., attaining the rank of Master Sargeant before retiring. He married Audrey Ellen Schlosser in 1956, and they spent 47 happy years together. Larry was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church for 29 years, was a Past president of St. Gregory's Men's Club, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Past Grand Knight of Council 9056, and a Past Faithful Navigator of Assembly 2588. Larry had a great sense of humor, and was always quick with a joke. He was a loving and generous man but most of all was a truly loving and devoted husband, father, grandaddy, and great-grandad. Larry is preceeded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Audrey, and his brothers Stedman and Jack Mason. Left behind to cherish his memory are his children; Michael K. Mason, and his wife Bobette, Stephen F. Mason, and his wife, Amy, Michele M. Mason, Shaun L. Kueter and her husband Brian, and Laurie A. Mason. His grandchildren; Mika Newberry and her husband Tony, Jonathan Hilditch, Christian Hilditch, Hannah Mason, Emily Mason, Thomas Mason, and Hunter Kueter. Three great-grandchildren; Miranda, Elijah and Abigail Newberry. His sisters; Eunice Gold and Joyce Souza as well as several nieces, nephews cousins and a host of other close relatives.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday March 6th , 2008 at 10:00AM at St. Gregory's the Great Catholic Church in Virginia Beach with Father Mario Fulgenzi officiating. A reception will be held in the Knight's Hall immediately following the Mass. The Family will receive friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk, Va 23502 on Wednesday March 5, 2008 from 6-9:00PM. A rosary service will be held at 6:00PM. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Susan G.
