John Arnold Williams, 87, passed away Friday, November 18, 2011. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Ida Williams. John worked for Merchants Bakery for 25 years, and was a WWII Veteran in the United States Navy. John was a loving husband, devoted father and was known as Pa to his beloved grandchildren and great grandson.
John is predeceased by his brother Melvin L. Williams. He is survived by his wife Marion Bennett Williams; son Wayne Williams (Jenny) of Cary, NC; daughters Betty Jo Staneski of Portsmouth and Mary L. Courtney of Virginia Beach; grandchildren Brian L. Edmondson, Jennifer L. Courtney, and Michelle Todd; one great grandson Alex Edmondson; two sisters Alma Williams Stevens and Annie Bel Childress both of Altavista, VA; two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Sunday, November 20, from 6pm - 8pm in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk. Funeral services will be Monday, November 21, at 12pm in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel followed by interment in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. As the rock of his family, he was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
