Frank William Snyder

LT. Frank William Snyder, USN (ret) 94 departed this life on August 18, 2020 at his friend’s home in Virginia Beach. Born in Latrobe, Pennsylvania of Otto Snyder and Emma Sessie Snyder on Jan 31, 1926. Upon graduation from Latrobe High School, Frank enlisted in the US Navy as a seaman recruit in 1944. He advanced the enlisted ranks up to Senior Chief and applied for the LDO program. He received his Commission as Ensign in 1964 and after a thirty year career retired as a Lieutenant in 1974. In 1958 Frank married Bonita, a native of Georgia, and in 1960 Teresa, the only child from the marriage, was born. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita; daughter, Teresa; sister, Gloria and brother, Charles. He is survived by his sisters, Freda, Martha, and Doris and by his numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and his many dear friends. He was an active member in good standing of the Eagles, Moose, VFW, American Legion as well as many other US Navy retired organizations. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know him. There will be a visitation on Monday, August 24 from 4-7 and a funeral service on Tuesday, August 25 at 11:00 with a burial to follow. All services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Woodlawn Memorial Gardens at 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502.
