David John Holt

David J Holt, 63, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 13, 2022 in Norfolk,Virginia. David was born on March 8, 1959 in Cambridge,England on the U.S Air Force Base to Mr. Thomas and Jean Holt. He lived his formative years in Electra Texas. Until moving to Norfolk, Virginia and joining the US Navy as a Boatswain's mate and Hull Maintenance Technician for seven years. During his time in the US Military he met and married the love of his life Gloria whom he was married to for 43 years. After his service in the military he went on to get his Associate's degree in auto mechanics and his State inspectors license. He continued his career in auto mechanics and as a state inspector for the next 37 years. David enjoyed spending time with his family, going fishing, camping,skating, working on cars and motorcycles, he was a huge animal lover. He was predeceased by his father Thomas Holt, mother Jean Wiggens Holt, brother Robert Holt and sister Mary Holt. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Gloria Holt, his three children and their spouses April (Melvin) Cherry, Angela (Aaron) Smalley, David (Tammy) Holt Goddaughter Laura Brooks. His grandchildren Ayanna, Meliah Cherry, James Oldaker-Holt, Alicia,Justin, Jaden Smalley, Chelsea Holt, David Holt Jr. God-grandchildren Logan, Nathaniel Brooks His brothers Thomas Holt 3rd of Texas, George Holt of Texas. As well as his nieces and nephews and extended family, friends and co workers A visitation for David will be held Friday, August 26, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, Virginia 23502. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, Virginia 23502. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions to the funeral that can be made directly to Woodlawn Funeral Home.
