Aline Rice Smith

Aline R. Smith passed from this world to the next in the presence of her loving nephew and niece caregivers, Kevin and Denee’ Rice in the early morning of February 18, 2023. She was born in Grant, Alabama on November 26, 1938, to the late Gracie Mae and German Otto Rice and lived a life filled with love, laughter, family and success. She was married for 48 years to her late, devoted and beloved husband Howard Ellen Smith. The beautiful and fun spirited Aline is survived by her daughter, Andrea Ellen Smith, and grandsons, John Howard (“Jack”) and William Brooks Neuman and her great granddaughters and grandson of her late son and grandson, Craig Douglas Smith and Brandon Scott Smith, Lauryn and Nicholas McCarthy and Alisa Baird. She is also survived by many loving sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews: Sue McFarland; David and Wanda Rice and their children and grandchildren, Lisa and Hunter Davenport and Todd Rice (Carrie); Bobby and Barbara Rice and their son, Robert (James); her late brother Brooks’ sons, Kevin (Denee’), Adam, and Jason Rice; Sandra and Emanuel Nozzarella; John and Evelyn Barras; Debra Rice; and Meredith and Nicholas McCarthy. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, Virginia 23502.
