Kearney Joseph Mongrue departed peacefully into eternal life early morning July 17, 2024, at the age of 96 - 1/2. He was the beloved husband of the late JoAnne Dupuis Mongrue. He is survived by 6 devoted children: Stanley J. Mongrue (Penny), Susan M. LeBlanc (Keith), Robert W. Mongrue, Melanie M. Waddell (Doug), Anne M. Koll (Joe), John F. Mongrue (Mary), many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his brother Leo Mongrue. He was preceded in death by his parents William Joseph Mongrue and Ernestine Roux Mongrue, sister Sophie Braud and brother William J Mongrue Jr. He was born in Luling, LA, on January 2, 1928. He served his country in the United States Army. He spent the majority of his working life in the financial management of Pan American Import. He was a devout parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He was a former Boy Scout troop leader, a member of the Men of Manresa, an all around handyman and piddler, woodworker, outdoor sportsman, vegetable gardener and a true man who loved the outdoors. In his mind there wasn’t anything he could not fix. He feared God, was a true conservative American, loved his country, and believed in the rule of law.
The family would like to thank the loving staff at Ashton Manor assisted living center, particularly his caretakers Shay, Barbara, Tanya, Mona and hospice staff Raynell and Sheeka
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan, LA beginning at 9AM. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11AM with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
