Karen Rudd

The Family of Karen Aiple Rudd sadly announces her passing. She died peacefully in the early morning on April 4, 2025, at the age of 80. Karen was born on September 7, 1944, in New Orleans, LA to Frederick Aiple and Georgette Sherman Aiple.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Michael Rudd (3/24/25) and Frederick A. and Georgette Aiple.

She is survived by her sons Victor M., Jeffrey F. and David M. Rudd, grandson Austin M. Rudd, daughter- in- laws Janet Rudd, Dawn Rudd and Michelle Agosto, sister-in-law Susan Attaway, brother-in-law Charles Attaway, niece Nicole Brouillette, (Randy, Andrew, Amanda), nephew Jonathan Attaway (Jess, Alexandra, Elijah).

Karen attended St. Matthias Elementary and graduated from Dominican High School (1962). She was married to the love of her life, James Michael Rudd for 53 years. They moved to Destrehan, La and raised three sons. Mike said that her quiet strength, beauty, warmth and grace filled his heart and mind with a joy he did not know existed.

Her sons all agree that she was the best mother imaginable and supported them in ways that they each uniquely needed. She encouraged their education, was a cub scout den mother, provided emotional support and gave selflessly to ensure their happiness.

Karen worked as a customer service manager for Standard Coffee Company for 25 years. Activities she loved included exercising and socializing at Anytime Fitness. Her quilts illustrated her creativity and artistic nature. She enjoyed her friends in the numerous quilting groups and taught others to embroider. Cooking for family holiday gatherings gave her tremendous pleasure, and she always enjoyed making heavenly hash candy for everyone. As her grandson said, her kitchen was her place to thrive and have fun.

She was a devout member of the Catholic Church, attended St Charles Borromeo in Destrehan and served in the chapel every Thursday night.

Visitation will be held on April 25, 2025, at 11:00 am at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Rd, Destrehan, Louisiana. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm.
