Ida Lucy Barreca

Ida Lucy Barreca entered heaven to meet our Lord on Monday, October 14, 2024 at the age of 72. She was born on July 31, 1952 in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of Destrehan, LA where she lived with her best friend and sister, Frances.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Barreca Sr. and Frances McKnight Barreca, siblings, Clara Perret, Salvador Barreca, Thomas Barreca Jr., Emmett Barreca, and Emile Barreca, and her nephew, James Barreca.

She is survived by her beloved sister, Frances Barreca, brother-in-law, Elton “Tony” Perret, sisters-in-law, Karen Schexnaydre, Denise Barreca, and Barbara Rhodes. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, who lovingly called her “Idabug”, Elton Perret Jr. (Rebecca), Donna Waguespack (Kerry), Matt (Stacey), Ty Towndrow (Alicia), Stephanie Barreca (Art), Alida Falgoust (Shane), Jaclyn Dearie (Shawn), and Laurie Taylor (Cory), as well as many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Breesy.

Ida was an avid Saints fan and enjoyed going to the Dome with Frances to watch Drew Brees win. She retired from Global Special Risk as an IT Manager. She will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norco, LA. Visitation will be held from 9 AM – 11 AM with a funeral Mass to begin at 11 AM. A Repast will follow at The K.C. Home. A private inurnment will follow at a later date.
