Hubert Clyde Schexnayder, known affectionately as Tetan, passed away on July 4, 2024, at his home in Norco, Louisiana. He was born on September 10, 1929 in Norco, LA, marking a lifelong bond with his place of birth and his friends.
Tetan graduated from Destrehan High School and furthered his education at LSU, laying a foundation for a lifetime of continuous learning and engagement. He proudly served in the Army from August 1951 to August 1953, a period during which he dedicated himself to his nation with honor and distinction.
A devout member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Norco, LA, Tetan was deeply involved in his community and spiritual life. His hobbies included golf, fishing, playing cards, and betting on the horses, activities that brought him much joy and provided cherished moments with friends and family.
Tetan was a kindhearted, loving, and a forgiving man, remembered fondly by those who knew him. He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn Edwards Schexnayder; daughter, Michelle Schexnayder Jeansonne and son-in-law, Glen Jeansonne; stepdaughter, Rita Augustin and her husband, Jim; and stepson, Richard Minyard and his wife, Christine, he also leaves behind his amazing care givers Holly B. Landry, Susan Powell, and Brooke Madere. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Madere Schexnayder; father, Albert J. Schexnayder; sisters, Brenda Schexnayder, Dorothy Ayme, and Ethel Mae Demars, and brother, Joseph A. Schexnayder.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Sacred Heart Church in Norco, LA beginning at 9AM. Mass will begin at 11AM and burial to follow at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan, LA.
