Ruth I. Reedy

Ruth is survived by her three daughters: Linda Gail Littlefield son-in-law Everett Littlefield of Waterford, CT; Rhonda Adele Nielsen and son-in-law Gary Nielsen of Clayton, NC; Theresa Audrey Dickinson and son-in-law Richard Dickinson of Niantic, CT; eight grandchildren: Kristopher Reedy, Jesse Reedy, Christine Littlefield, Jaclyn Littlefield, Sean Nielsen, Joel Nielsen, Nicole Littlefield and Mikayla Dickinson; six great grandchildren; Aston, Logan, Devin, Jaxon, Nyla and Colton. Her husband Emmett Alfred Reedy, and sons Larry Alfred Reedy and Garry Wayne Reedy predeceased her. Her brothers Carl and Roy Benjamin and sister Winifred Grabon also predeceased her.

Ruth was born Sept 11, 1932 in Preston City Connecticut the daughter of Fred and Gladys Benjamin. Ruth graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1951 and married Emmett that same year. Ruth worked as a waitress for a total of forty years at the former Niantic Grill which then became Constantine’s Restaurant in Niantic. She loved meeting new people and always greeted everyone with a smile. Her warm and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Ruth also loved her second career of being a grandmother. She helped raise six of her grandchildren and gave them all so many precious memories to carry with them. Ruth also had a love for roses and enjoyed taking care of the many roses bushes in her yard. Ruth also had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel in fact she completed every item on her travel bucket list and loved to share the stories of her adventures. Ruth was always curious to learn new things and especially enjoyed learning how to do new crafts she eagerly embraced it and has many craft projects that she completed. Ruth was also a member of the women club in Niantic for many years.

She was a mother, sister, gram, aunt, sister-in-law and best friend and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 am- 12 pm for a Memorial Service for Ruth on April 16, 2022 at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Service 13 Lake Ave., Niantic. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Ruth’s name to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
