A resident of East Lyme for over 15 years, "Jack" Ryan passed away on September 4th at the age of 93. A former New Yorker, he had a long career in public relations at major companies in NYC and Los Angeles. As vice president at Young & Rubicam, his clients included Gulf Oil and General; Foods. As a consultant for Alfa Romeo, he headed his own agency for five years before joining The Hannaford Company (formerly Deaver and Hannaford) in Los Angeles, as executive vice president. While reluctantly "retired" in Connecticut. he established a literary agency to represent writers. Among his clients is an award-winning author of 9 middle grade novels, Adrian Fogelin. An US Army veteran of the Korean war, Jack was a First Lieutenant, Forward Air Observer and General's Aide during that conflict. He was a graduate of NYU. Survivors include his wife, of 45 years, Joan Aho Ryan, daughter Diana Joesten, son-in-law Robert Joesten and niece Michele Redhair.
