He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on September 14, 1930, the son of Harold R. and Jessie Potts.
Mr. Potts grew up in Westfield, NJ and graduated from Westfield High School in 1948. He graduated from University of Cincinnati School of Business Administration. In 1949 he served one year in the US Army, then was appointed Second Lieutenant in the US Air Force after completing the ROTC program at the University. He then entered the inactive reserves and was discharged in 1962.
He was employed by several companies in sales and sales management, serving large and small industries in New England and New York State.
He met his wife Anita in West Hartford, CT, where they were married in 1961. They moved to East Lyme in 1964 and raised three sons. In East Lyme he served on the Conservation Commission and was on the Board of Directors for Twin Havens. He was an active member and participated in many activities at the Niantic Community Church.
In addition to his wife Anita, he is survived by his sons Stephen of Davers, MA; Kevin and his wife Allyson of Irmo, SC and Douglas of Stoneham, MA; his granddaughters Kiersten, age 11 and Katelyn, age 8 of Irmo, SC. He was predeceased by his parents and his half sister Helen.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 28, 2012 at 2pm at the Niantic Community Church, 170 Pennsylvania Ave., Niantic, CT 06357. Burial will be private.
