Niantic — Gregory A. “Greg” Lamourine Sr., 65, of Niantic, passed away Aug. 27, 2022, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. He was born in New London, July 1, 1957, to Jacqueline and Clifford Lamourine. He graduated from East Lyme High School in 1975.
Greg leaves his wife Dory McCarthy Lamourine; four sons: Thomas, Jerame, Clifford and Sean; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his oldest son Gregory Jr. He is survived by his two sisters, Beverly Lamourine Alves and Jodi Lamourine-Fleisher; as well as his mother Jacqueline Lamourine.
Following a stint in the U.S. Army, Greg spent his working years in propane installation and repair. Before retiring, he had been employed by Suburban Propane, always utilizing his exceptional mechanical abilities. He could be relied upon to fix just about anything, drawing on knowledge from time working with his dad at the family Texaco station.
He was probably proudest of the fact that, as a teenager, he purchased a 1975 Pontiac Firebird, Trans Am the year he graduated from high school, while working part time for his dad. Needless to say, it remained a keepsake until very recently. Greg followed NASCAR very closely, and would have loved the opportunity to run the Firebird around the track.
Arrangements are pending. Services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Memorial gifts may be sent to Niantic Fire Department, 8 Grand Street, East Lyme. Fulton-Thoreau Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
