Victor Dean Paternostro, age 51, of Fredon, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Newton Medical Center. Dean will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and acquaintances who understood his dry wit, stubborn ways and generous heart.
Born in Newton, Dean was a life-long resident of Sussex County. Dean graduated from Canisius College in 1994 where he fine tuned his love of the French Language and winter sports, and was a proud member of the Golden Griffins football team. He was a former route driver for Baker's Perfection of Rockaway, NJ. In his early years, Dean helped coach football at Pope John High School in Sparta alongside his father, and also assisted Coach Chuck Tepper in Vernon High School. Dean had a love of travel, geography, and enjoyed studying many different languages.
Dean is survived by his mother Patricia Willis Paternostro; his sister Angela Paternostro-Pfister (Russ); his godson Anthony Behonick ; his aunt Linda and uncle John Willis; his aunt Kathy and uncle Ed Kohler.
Dean was preceded in death by his father Victor J. Paternostro who passed in 2012.
A visitation for Dean will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, NJ 07860. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, October 24, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt Carmel, 203 Swartswood Road, Newton, NJ 07826. Interment to Follow in Good Shepherd RC Cemetery, Green Township, N.J.
