Sandra Lynn Pittenger

Sandra was born and raised in Newton and was a lifelong Sussex County resident. She graduated from Newton High School, Class of 1966. Sandra worked as a Nurse’s Aide for 18 years with Valley View Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Newton prior to retirement in 2011.

In her younger years, Sandra was an active bowler. She enjoyed gambling in the form of scratch-off tickets. Above all else, family was everything to Sandra; she cherished her family and all the small moments together dearly.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Jeanne Current; her daughter, Debra Pittenger; her sister, Carol Lee Brigante Washer; and her brother, David Current. She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Lawrence J. Pittenger, Jr.; her children, Lawrence J. Pittenger, III (Julie), Liz DelSantro, Danette Magerstaedt, and Melissa Pellegrino; and her grandchildren, Carl John Failla, Lawrence J. Pittenger, IV, Antonio Guevara, and Emily Pittenger. Sandra also leaves behind her sister, Betsy Crum (Douglas); and her nieces and nephews, Tonya Crum, Savanah Raymond, Anthony Brigante, Matthew Washer, Douglas Crum, James Current, and David Washer; and her beloved cat, Precious.

Memorial visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St, Newton, NJ. Memorial Services will begin at 8 pm on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Celebration of Life Services will be held from 2 pm to 6 pm on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the American Legion Post #86, 20 Yates Ave, Newton, NJ.
