Salvatore was born on February 17, 1936 in Montclair, NJ the late Salvatore and Antoinette (Mason) Testa. Salvatore grew up in Montclair and graduated Montclair High School in 1954. Salvatore was a proud Army Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement in 1994, he was a firefighter captain for Township of Montclair Fire Department. Salvatore was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding solace and joy in nature throughout his life, he cherished the times spent with friends and family in the great outdoors. Salvatore also had a passion for working on cars and creating stained glass art.
The beloved husband to the late, Joyce Testa, Salvatore is survived by his children, Susanne Testa (Suzanne Quinn), Lisa Testa, David Testa (Amy); his grandchildren, Joseph Volpe (Shari), Jeffrey Testa (Jennifer), Ashley Washer (Richard) and David Testa and his great-grandchildren, Skylar, Gia, Lane, Lyle, Levi, Franco and Joseph. Along with his parents and wife, Salvatore was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Nicholas Testa and his grandson, Jonathan Volpe.
A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg, PA.
