It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald Stephen Kubala, 78, of Ooltewah, Tennessee announces that he passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024. Born in Taylor, PA to the late Michael J. and Mary H. Kubala his battles with heart disease, kidney disease and cancer have come to an end. He is resting in peace.
Ron (Ronnie) had a 25+year career as an Elect. Design Engineer designing test equipment Commercial Industry and US Government. He was a consultant for a major lighting manufacturer, designing lighting equipment for the theater and stadium application. Ron went on to be the owner along with his wife, Joan, of Newton Trophy and Sport Center, Newton, NJ. In 2005, Ron and Joan retired to Port Charlotte, FL. After retiring for about 5 years, he then started his third career as a licensed Real Estate Agent for another 13 years. After residing there for 20 years they recently moved to Ooltewah, TN to be closer to family. Ron’s passions were his love of the outdoors, fishing (fly), hunting, boating and of course his corvettes.
Ron served his country proudly as a Combat Wounded Vietnam War Veteran and Past Commander of VFW Post # 5360 in Newton, NJ, the 1st Vietnam Commander. Ron was an active Firemen for 33 years with the Newton Fire Department, Chemical #2. He was a lifelong member of Newton Fire Department and New Jersey State Exempt Firemen's Association. Ron also belonged to Harmony Lodge #8 in Newton, NJ as a 32nd Degree Freemasonry.
Ron was preceded by his parents; his sister, Glory A. Brown; his brother-in-law, Arthur H. Brown; his in-laws, Wilbur and Florence Boss and his fur-babies, Kelly, Korkie, Kelsey, and Konnor.
Ron is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan B. (nee Boss) Kubala; his brother, Michael E. Kubala and his wife, Louise; his nieces, Deborah B. Smith (Ronnie), Lynn A. Hudson (David); his nephews, Michael R. Kubala, Brian P. Kubala (Irina), Artie Brown (Lil) and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Arrangements are being handled through Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St. Newton, NJ 07860. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 4 pm - 8 pm. A masonic, firemen's service and VFW Post #5360 service will begin at 7:30 pm. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 11:30 am with Military Honors.
