Robert was born October 8, 1935 in the Springdale section of Andover Township to late Emerson and Mary (Barker) Vickery. He was a lifelong resident of Sussex County and a 1954 graduate of Newton High School. Robert was a proud veteran of the US Marines serving our county from 1956 to 1958. He was employed by Ford Motor Company for forty years. To keep busy after retirement, Robert drove a school bus for twenty years.
Robert loved going to the New Jersey shore, fishing and NASCAR. He was a member of Baleville Congregational Church, the Branchville American Legion and the Marine Corps League Det. 747.
Robert is survived by his wife, Patricia A.(Caton) Vickery; his stepson, Steven Kurilla (Sheri); his stepdaughter, Paula Polizzi; his sister, Betty Doerrhoefer; his two nieces, Denise and Debbie; one nephew; David; and four step-grandchildren, Dani, Anthony, Eric and Lyndsee.
Graveside Services were held August 27, 2022 in the North Hardyston Cemetery with Marine Military Honors. Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, Newton, NJ. Online condolences may be offered at www.smithmccrackenfuneralhome.com.
