Jacob was born on November 12, 1962 in Paterson to the late Leonard and Henrietta (Hof) Van Wingerden. He grew up in Montville before settling in Fredon nearly 40 years ago. Jacob was the owner and operator for Fredon Farms in Fredon Township where he grew numerous plants in his various greenhouses. He was an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and caring for his loved ones.
Jacob is survived by his children, Kristen, Jacob, Kailey and Aiden and his siblings, Leonard and his wife, Donna and Alfred and his wife, Yvonne and five other siblings. Along with his parents, his brother, Peter, predeceases Jacob.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Tranquility Cemetery in Green Township.
