Born in Cohoes, New York, Doris was the daughter of the late Elzear Pelletier and Florence Gregoire, both of whom had immigrated from Canada. Growing up in Cohoes, Doris and her seven siblings spoke French at home, learning English in school.
Doris had a passion for working with her hands and was a gifted seamstress and upholsterer. She took great pride in sewing clothes for her children and even created both of her daughters’ wedding dresses—treasured heirlooms that showcased her love and talent. Her business flourished as she gained recognition for her exceptional custom clothing and alteration skills. In her later years, Doris found joy in counted cross-stitching, creating beautiful framed pictures that she cherished and shared with her family as personal gifts.
Fiercely independent, Doris was a self-reliant and resourceful woman who could solve any problem on her own. She took great pride in fixing anything that needed improvement and could never resist a good garage sale, always finding treasures for a bargain. Above all, Doris had a knack for making people laugh.
Despite her many talents, Doris’s greatest love was her family. Home was her sanctuary, and she found immense happiness simply being with those she cherished. Her warmth, humor, and spirit will forever be remembered by her devoted family and dear friends.
Doris’s absence will be deeply felt, but her legacy lives on in the love she shared, the creations she crafted, and the family she nurtured with her entire heart.
