Betty Jean Kanipe

Born March 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Edwin Mingus and Ruth Estelle Kaylor Mingus.

Betty attended Faith Lutheran Church for many years.

She was a workaholic and shopping was her hobby. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul E. Mingus; and 3 sisters, Mary Lee Miller, Frankie Fortenbery, and Nancy Shook.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 69 years, John Alvin Kanipe; daughter, Yvonne Allen and husband, Dennis; sisters, Doris Watters, Pat Smith; grandchildren, Jason Allen and wife, Lauren, Kimberly Hutchins and husband, Herbie; great grandchildren, Ava Kiser, Logan Hutchins, Holden Hutchins, and Addison Hutchins.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 13, 2015 in the Chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton, with Pastor Jason Sigmon officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.

Randy McWilliams, Jonathan Miller, Charlie Mitchem, David Setzer, Kelly Setzer, and Richard Sigmon will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2015 (this evening) at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton.
