10/14/1924 - 8/8/2018
Tina was born on October 14, 1924 in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was the first American-born child of Italian immigrants, Giulia and Alessandro DeRosa.
She was the oldest of three children. She graduated from Manual Training High School in 1942. She met Antonio ("Anthony") Gatti through mutual friends and on a trip to Italy. They were married in NY, August 21, 1954. Their two children, Filomena ("Mena") and Andrea were born on the same day, January 24th, three years apart. Tina worked as a dictaphone typist for over 40 years.
Anthony lived at the Villa during the last two years of his life. He passed away on January 16, 2011, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Tina remained in her home in Santa Clarita for two years and then moved in with her daughter in the same town. In 2015, she moved into the Villa. Tina passed away from complications of congestive heart failure. Both died peacefully, surrounded by their loving children and the wonderful Villa staff.
Tina was amazing! She was a strong woman with a big heart. Her strength was in her kindness, generosity, NY dry sense of humor and wit, great Italian cooking, her optimism, patience, perseverance, and dedication to family. She was adored by everyone. Those of us whose hearts are broken and miss her terribly take comfort in knowing that her soul is now in eternal peace along with her loved ones who have gone before her. She is now an angel in heaven watching over us.
She is survived by her children Mena Gatti of Santa Clarita and Andrea Gatti of Simi Valley, CA; her grandchild Alexa Gatti of Northridge, CA, sister-in-law, Mary; and nieces and nephews in New York, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona and Italy.
