Ruth Hogan, 95 years of age, went home to be with the Lord on Friday November 4th, 2022, at home, in her oldest son and daughter-in-law’s living room with family surrounding her; during a 24/7 hospice care, supported by multiple family nurses; celebrating life with her present, sharing memories, telling stories, viewing pictures, laughing, crying and reflecting.
Ruth was born April 18, 1927, on her parents’ farm, in Welcome Maryland; the third youngest of 8 children; of which 6 siblings including spouses, have preceded her in death. In 1933, her father passed away of Tuberculosis when she was 5 years of age.
Ruth attended and graduated from LaPlata High School in Maryland. Growing up, the family enjoyed vacations to Florida by train where her mother had once lived.
She married the late Albert A. Hogan, a WWII Navy veteran, in DC, on January 2, 1948, after meeting him on vacation months earlier. Albert had rented a room from Ruth’s Aunt Nina located in Malabar Florida.
She and the family loved breaking away from farm life and relaxing on the Potomac River, enjoying family time with her mother, siblings, children and friends at Grannies (her mother’s) Cottage on the river.
Ruth and family attended church, Sunday school, professing Jesus as her Lord, God and Savior for over 72 years.
Retired with over 25 years of Federal Service, including supporting the war effort working for the Defense Department at Blossom Point Maryland military installation. Followed by transferring to DC and working for Weights and Measures, and finishing working with Veterans Administration in Sepulveda California. Remaining devoted to the military, and supporting veterans causes, her whole life.
Enjoyed sewing, quilting, and vacations to Florida.
She was an excellent cook, all year round, but, especially during holidays.
Devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother; loving and supporting family and friends with all her heart; and of course, always there if needed.
Ruth is survived by her 3 children, Keith Hogan (wife Priscilla), Greg Hogan (wife Lindy) and Susan Zombo (husband Michael); 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, her 97yr old sister, Faith Delvo; Polly her cat and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
