William J Day

William J. “Joe” Day, 91, of Newburgh, IN passed away on November 29, 2022. He was born on November 14, 1931 in Sturgis, KY to the late Curtis F. and Lucille (Rudd) Day. Joe retired after 38 years from Whirlpool. He was a Navy Veteran, serving in the Korean War from 1952 to 1955. Joe’s first love was serving God, loving his family and many friends. He loved the outdoors, gardening, and teasing his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Charlotte Day of Newburgh, IN; son, Dan Day (Kim) of Boonville, IN; daughter, Linda Day of Shelbyville, TN; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Uzzell (Chris), Angela Plunkett (John), Melissa Jinks (Forrest), Danielle Day; 15 great grandchildren; and, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Matthew Jensen and Loren Quick with burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home.
