Patrick Downey

PATRICK DOWNEY, 70, passed away on May 27, 2017. He was born on March 17, 1947 to James and Kathleen Downey in Dublin, Ireland. He and his family later moved to New York City.

Paddy was a faithful follower of the Dublin GAA football club, Everton Football Club, and the New York Rangers. When not in front of his building, 80 East End Avenue, where he served as the beloved Superintendent for 27 years, Paddy could be found relaxing in the sun with his family near their weekend home in Long Beach.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; son, Peter Downey (Mairead Downey); daughters, Maria Downey and Caitlin Downey; grandchildren, Lauren, Caoimhe & Senan; brother, Billy Downey; sister, Marie Downey; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Kevin Downey, Gerard Downey and James Downey; and his parents. He will also be missed by his faithful grand-pups, Buster & Joxer.

Contributions may be made in memory of Patrick Downey to the ASPCA or Calvary Hospital in the Bronx.

His family expresses their boundless gratitude to cherished friends and relatives for all of the love, support, and prayers shown Paddy and his family during his illness.
