O’Connor, Mary C. (nee O’Malley), born on May 27, 1921, and entered into eternal life on February 2, 2012. A lifelong resident of Yorkville, she was devoted to her family, her Church and her country. Mary was a very spiritual person. During the course of her life, she worked in a variety of fields. For over twenty years, she was a volunteer in the rectory of her home parish, Our Lady of Good Counsel. None of those accomplishments, however, compared to the life work she committed to her family. Mary was predeceased by her husband, John (Jack, 1967), and her son, John (Jackie, 1993). She leaves behind her daughter, Sheila O’Connor Tobin, and her son, Tom O’Connor and daughter-in-law, Marian McLaughlin O’Connor. In addition, Mary is survived by her four fantastic grandchildren: Kerri Jennifer Tobin and her husband Stephen Lentz, Matthew John Tobin, Deirdre Elaine O’Connor, and Margaret Mary O’Connor. They will miss their Nana very much. Mary was also a wonderful aunt to Thomas Dillon, William Dillon (deceased), and Eileen Dillon Connell. Although they were her sister, Peggy (2000), and brother-in-law, Tom Dillon’s (1987) children, she felt as though they were her own. Thus, she celebrated each addition to their families: Matthew, Mary, Kevin, Colleen, and Patrick. She took great delight in the births of her great grandson, Morgan Tobin Lentz, and her great nephew, Conor Eamonn Skelly. She had a wonderful and caring group of friends in Yorkville, and with them spent many a summer on the beach and in the bungalows of Rockaway.
