The Shannon Family at John and Kathleen Shannon’s 50th wedding celebration. Mary Therese was the catalyst for community once and always!

Mary Shannon started first grade with us at St. Anne Elementary and if my memory is correct, she skipped 2nd grade and probably could have skipped a couple more grades if that had been healthy socially.  She excelled through High School at Bishop Gorman and collected so many friends and admirers.  My classmates and myself always looked up to Mary despite being classmates and the same age.  Rest in Peace Mary Shannon.  

I met Mary and Ed 35 years ago as law school intern. Assigned to Mary, she welcomed me in, treated me like a little brother, and taught me as much or more than any person before or since.  Kind, loyal, funny, fun, honest (sometimes brutally and often hilariously so), smart - all words that readily come to mind when I think of Mary. I will be forever grateful for her influence on me. My deepest condolences to Ed and their daughters, about whom she was so proud. Ave atque vale. 

Ed, Bridget, Genny and Theo I am so very sorry for your tremendous loss. Mary was indeed a wonderful lady. She was one of the most inspiring people I've ever met.  I miss her greatly.  


Mary was never far from my thoughts. My entire career came down to her having survived and thrived for so many years. 
I'll never forget her response to my saying she had a lovely family.
She said 'if it had not been for you she and all the following generations would not have been there.' It touched me deeply and it has always been an inspirational moment.
May she rest in peace.

Mary was an exceptional person and friend. Brilliant, discerning, honest, hilarious, and deeply caring, she modeled how to keep on keeping on, dealing with challenges head on but always focusing on what was most important, like enjoying her wonderful family and staying engaged in all facets of life. I will miss her beyond measure. 

My condolences to Ed, Bridget and Genny and their partners, and Theo. Absorbing a loss of this magnitude is a journey that takes time. May all those who had the joy of knowing and loving Mary support and ease this passage.
