Margaret Jane Andrews Linney passed away on September 2, 2022, at the age of 88. A beloved mother, sister, aunt, stepmother, friend, mentor, and teacher, Margaret was born in New York and graduated with a BA from Adelphi University and an MFA from Yale Drama School. After a short but sweet acting career that included everything from commercials and off-Broadway plays to a feature film in Africa, she spent 30 years as a theater professor at Brooklyn College. She later served as the director of the MFA program in acting.
Margaret was a passionate supporter of the arts, a fierce advocate for women’s rights, and an excellent party host. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A memorial service will be held in her honor on September 25 at 3pm at Riverside Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Planned Parenthood or the Arthur Miller Foundation for Theater Education in Public Schools.
