It is with great sadness that I, Susan P Merkel, announce the passing of my uncle John B Maurer at his home in NYC on the 8th of November 2022.
He was my best friend and very much loved by all who knew him. He was a kind and gentle man. John and I shared a great love of animals he always had a dog or two, Bearded Collies. One was a stray rescued from the local market in Roxbury, Connecticut, where John spent his weekends, working with clients, fox hunting in the Fairfield County Hunt or planting beautiful English gardens reminiscent of his grandmother's home.
He will be best remembered by his accomplishments in the design world. He was a graduate of Parsons School of Design.
