Eleanor (Stolz) Greenfield died March 3, 2023 on the Upper West Side. Born March 6, 1936, daughter of Irving and Pearl Stolz, Mt. Vernon, N.Y. Survived by husband Sidney Greenfield (they met at summer camp when she was 16, married for 68 years), son David, daughter Suzanne (Joseph Shapiro) and granddaughters Lena and Eva Shapiro. Predeceased by daughter Jennifer Beth. And by a brother, Alan Stolz (Gail). Ellie (named for Eleanor Roosevelt) was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend and educator. Degrees from Hunter College; University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She taught in Milwaukee Public Schools, was a talented evaluator of children with disabilities. Before returning to New York in 1997, Milwaukee was home for 34 years, where Sid was professor of anthropology. Ellie was his partner, editor and co-traveler on research from Barbados to Portugal to Brazil.
