I remember many years ago, after an auto auction in the Bronx,  going with Marshall Louis Giachetta, the auctioneer, Al Dellavalle and myself going to see Mr. Daniel Maloney. He was a kind hearted man, a very knowledgeable man and whom the gentleman who I was with loved Danny. 

To Rose and Danny Jr., my heart is saddened with grief for you and yours at this time..  Danny will surely be missed by many..!  ..   
we had 10 years of office dujties, as I was his first secretary..  So many memories and experience in setting up Liffey Movers with Danny..  Rest In Peace my friend !

I have found memories  of my visit to New York in 1974 as a Student. Danny sorted me out for a job before I had even hit the NY pavements.  It was lovely to see the wedding photo as well having being at the wedding 47 years ago. 
Danny is being sadly missed by all of his cousins back in Clare.

I read  a beautiful tribute to Danny where he was called King of New York  but he was also 'the godfather' of our family, he has done so much for my family giving us all jobs through the years, All Ireland  match tickets whenever we needed them and taking care of us, always being our home away from home. With my sympathies to Rose, Danny Junior and the Moloney family, I was sad to hear about Danny passing away. I had the pleasure of knowing Danny many years ago when I spent a J1 student summer working for Liffey Van Lines. I was a young Clare girl landing in New York and looking for a summer job. Danny and Linda (Gleeson) gave me the option of working in the office or working in the moving vans and I chose to work in the moving vans. It remains a stand-out experience in my life - leaving the yard every morning and discovering where the day on the job would take me; downtown, uptown, upstate and into neighbouring states with the crew, meeting and working with people from different nationalities, backgrounds and cultures – it was all a great adventure. I saw first-hand the impact that Liffey Van Lines had in the Bronx community providing employment and opportunities and I was so proud to step off the number 4 train every morning on 125th Street in my Liffey Van Lines shirt as the (then) only “lady mover” in the yard. Thanks Danny for that wonderful experience.  I also saw first-hand the impact of Danny’s passion and interest in his home county of Clare with his involvement and support of so many Clare related initiatives both in New York and at home. It’s many a Clare person who will recall a warm welcome and support from Danny Moloney of Broadford and New York. May he rest in peace. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.

I am happy I got to know Mr. Danny Moloney Sr. I was lucky to hear of his many adventures straight from the man himself.  He was full of wit and underneath his cherubic appearance, I knew he was a force to be reckoned with. I will always remember him fondly.

A true gentleman may he rest easy. We’re all better people for knowing him.

For almost 40  years I've been a member of the County Clare Patriotic, Benevolent and Social Association of NY and Danny Moloney has always been our foremost benefactor in all that time, generous to us as he was to so many other organizations and causes in the Irish Community. Like many of the past and current Presidents we visited his office and home at times telling him of our activities and prevailing on him for support which always forthcoming.  I will always remember one especially big ask this time for Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann back in 1997 when we invited the Tulla Ceili Band over to play for our Fleadh Cheoil.  They were celebrated their 50th Anniversary that year and Danny kindly offered to pay for their four day stay in the Big Apple at a Manhattan hotel as he was very proud of his East Clare roots and the traditional band that celebrated that part of the Banner County.  During the visit then Mayor Rudy Guiliani presented a key to the city to P. Joe and Martin Hayes on behalf of the band and declared it Tulla Ceili Band Day in New York.  It couldn't have happened without Danny's own hospitality in New York
Paul Keating  Clare Association and Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann.

Danny was a unique person, whether in a business or a social setting. He always made you welcome, and was always ready to offer help and support. From our founding over 20 years ago Danny was always there for the Hibernia Provident society and its members. Not only did Danny support our dinners and events but indeed at times volunteered his office and conference room for our Board and committee meetings.
His cheery disposition, and ready smile welcomed all who met him.
When visiting Danny’s office, you were also often greeted by his wife Rose, who always had the kettle on. Unique in today’s world.
Danny was a true friend to The Hibernia Provident Society.

Danny was an icon of the Irish business community, and of all things Irish, and Irish American.
He has been an ever constant supporter of the Emerald Guild Society since our inception. Always very generously supporting our Scholarship fund, St Patrick's Day Party, Golf Outing, and anything as would be requested of him.
It would be impossible to put a figure on the amount of employment and financial help he has provided to organizations and individuals over the decades. Too innumerable to mention, all the resident managers and superintendents he moved, throughout the city, state and country.
He was unmistakingly happiest behind his desk, or on his phone, making deals, or trading vintage cars and old tractors.
The Art Of The Deal was Danny's credo long before it became the title of a book.
His legacy will endure well beyond his time on earth.

Some say a man is judged by how he greets others. I disagree, a man is judged by how others greet him.  Danny was always greeted with open arms and a big smile , and that says a lot. An old blessing says “May the road side to meet you, a smile always greet you and may your friendships be forever, true and strong “. Danny lived that. He was greeted with a smile by all who knew him and had true friendships for many years. I’ve known Danny almost 4 decades.  I first called him boss, later called him client, but proudly called him friend for most of that 40 years.  Codladh samh mo chara, codladh samh. Sleep well sleep my friend, sleep well.  

To Donal's family, we were so sorry to hear of his loss, Patrick O'Connell is my Dad & he used to tell us how Donal went to America  & did very well for himself, Dad visited Donal in New York in the 90's where he was treated like a king, He often talks to us about this trip, Thinking of ye all at this difficult time, Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dilis

When I think of Mr. Moloney, I think of a man who never stopped moving, he was always on the go and always thinking. He wasn’t afraid to put in a long day and work beside his employees getting dirty.  He never asked you to do something he wouldn’t do himself. I remember when I would stop by at his house by the lake with my Dad he always had an Irish guy he wanted to introduce me to.  He worked hard to make the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Mahopac providing the grand stand , getting his cars ready and throwing the party opening his house to everyone. Danny or Donal as we knew him here in Broadford, Co Clare, his  passing has left a huge void for all of us that knew him.
Donal was an exceptional man, always saw enormous possibilities in everything.

I personally have so many great and wonderful memories of times spent with him and his wife Rose and son Danny.
He never forgot his native place, always kept in touch, often knew more about its life than the locals living in Broadford.
An exceptional man to look after those of us who visited New York. Be it work or leisure, Donal ensured that you were always very well looked after.
His business acumen was exceptional, so alert, intuitive and steely. 
He loved the Big Apple with all its challenges. His support of so many Clare/ American groups is well documented.
It’s difficult to accept that Donal has finally gone to his eternal reward.
There will never be anyone like him again, he was a force of nature with empathy for the underdog.
