Robert Thomas Louthan of New Tazewell was born April 15, 1941 in Hancock County and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 1, 2024. God called Tom to preach and he was ordained in 1975. He pastored many churches including Seals Branch, Little Sycamore, Grissom Island, Lone Hill, and Sugar Grove. He was a member at Grace Baptist at the time of his passing.
He was a hard worker physically as well as spiritually, working at England's while raising tobacco, gardens, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. After he retired he became the go to man to fix washers, dryers, and lawnmowers. If it could be fixed, he was the man to call.
He was preceded in death by his son Douglas Louthan, parents Lloyd and Reenie Louthan, great grandson Kason Cupp, brother Carlos Louthan, sisters Nelda Loop, Edith Hall, Phyllis Sands, and Linda Priest.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Ruth Louthan, son Tommy Louthan (Darlene), daughters Tammy Louthan (Jerry Rouse), Kim Runions (Tim), and Julie Combs (Daniel), grandchildren Brittany Louthan, Trey Louthan, Rachel Rouse, Jacob Runions, Bailey Wilson, Thomas Combs, and Noah Combs, great grandchildren Chloe Cupp, Caleb Cupp, Rylan Sons, and one on the way Callen Robert Sharp. One sister Julie Solomon of Knoxville.

The family will receive friends Wednesday April 3, 2024 from 4 until 8 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday April 4, 2024 at 10 AM in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will follow in the Louthan Cemetery in Sneedville.
