Larry Edwards

Larry “Jack” Edwards of Speedwell, TN went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 7, 2017; he was 77 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted Edwards and Odie Kelley Edwards, and his sisters, Barbara “Bobbie” Edwards and Brenda “Butchie” Edwards.

He worked hard all of his life to provide for his wife and children, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company where he retired after 39 years of service. He loved to stay busy working outside, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Many people looked up to him for his advice and life lessons that he taught. He was a deacon at Northside Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia and then a deacon at Carr’s Chapel Baptist Church in Speedwell, TN.

He is survived by his Wife: Mildred Edwards of Speedwell, TN

Son: Michael Edwards of Hampton, VA

Daughters and Sons-in-law: Katherine and Gregory Heckmann of Speedwell, TN

Melina and Don Moore of Speedwell, TN

He also leaves behind Sisters and Brothers-in-law: Joyce and the late Eddie Newport of Speedwell, TN

Betty and Jessy Gregg of Speedwell, TN

Pam and Johnny Perkins of Speedwell, TN

Brothers and Sisters-in-law: Lonnie “Bull” Edwards of Chesapeake, VA

Rev. Carl “Newt” and Gloria Edwards of LaFollette, TN

Rev. Dan and Vanda Edwards of Barboursville, VA

Grandchildren: Kayla Heckmann, Justin Moore, Levi Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice Care for their dedicated commitment to their father.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate, TN. The funeral will follow at 8:00 p.m. and the burial will be a 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Powell Valley Cemetery.
