James Burton Morris

James Burton “Burt” Morris, 71, of Tazewell, TN. went home to be with the Lord August 9, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 17, 1942 and was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Clifford Morris; mother, Leoda Morris Lephew; stepfather, Robert “Slick” Lephew and grandparents, Thomas and Lenora Morris. He was married to Mary Ellen Lane on August 13, 1962 while proudly serving in the US Army with the 101st Airborne Division. He retired after years of being a truck driver. He was a dedicated family man and enjoyed spoiling his great grandchildren and picking his guitar. He was saved at an early age at the New Bethel Baptist Church and became an ordained minister on September 30, 1979. He was a member of Raven Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years and best friend, Mary Ellen Lane Morris; daughter, Sheila (Jeff) Harville; son, David (Allison) Morris; grandsons, Dustin (Crystal) Harville, Greg Harville and fiancé, Scarlotte Smiddy; granddaughters, Kacey Morris Singleton, Chelsey (Jeremy) Lester; great grandchildren, Kalyn Singleton, Raegan, Wyatt and McKinly Lester; Special little buddy, Jordan Walker all of Tazewell, TN; Aunt, Maudie Morris Day of Morley, TN; special brother-in-law, J.B. “Percy”Lane; Special friends, Harold and Jamie Bolden, Tim and Karen Owsley, Johnny Barnard, Johnny Meyers; other nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-9PM Monday, August 11, 2014 at Coffey Funeral Home in New Tazewell, TN with funeral services at 10AM Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clifton Wilmoth and Rev. K.J. Zumbrum officiating; Eulogy by Rev. Jerry Epperson. Singers will be David Honeycutt and Jesse Watson. Burial will follow in the Raven Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers: Greg Lane, Doug Lane, Ed Lane, Brandon Callebs, Brandon Brooks, Jimmy Evans.
