James was saved January 24, 1976 and was baptized on February 1, 1976. He was ordained a deacon and remained a lifelong member of Goins Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

A visitation for James will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Goins Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Goins Chapel Road, Tazewell, TN 37879. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Graveside in the Moody Cemetery.
