Deborah Jean (Wilson) “DJ” Vinson passed away at Claiborne County Hospital on December 3, 2024. DJ was born on March 31, 1956 to William “Bill” and Geneva “Rusty” in El Cajon, California, later moving to Lamar, Colorado and then to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she graduated from General William Mitchel High School in 1974. She grew up with two older sisters, Sharon and Susan and a younger brother Billy. She worked in the Nursey and taught 3–5-year-olds in Sunday School at Lytle South Baptist Church in Abilene, TX.
DJ married Kirk Vinson on April 18, 1981, on the banks of the Colorado River in Austin, TX in an outdoor ceremony. With Kirk serving in the US Air Force for 27 years, she dedicated her life to support and make loving homes in Austin, TX, Lakewood, CO, Syracuse, UT, Keflavik, Iceland, Mildenhall UK, Charleston, SC, Las Vegas, NV, Abilene, TX and Tazewell, TN. DJ was a devoted and supportive mother to Jason, Cari and Michael as well as many cherished dogs.
DJ maintained the family and was always willing to work outside the home which culminated as a Computer Graphics Artist with the US Air Force Weapons School at Nellis AFB, NV. After her husband Kirk retired from the US Air Force she became the managing partner in their Woman-Owned Aerospace Business, until they began RVing and touring the country for 3 years prior to settling in Tazewell in 2019.
DJ is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kirk, sons Jason of Sumter, SC and Michael of Cameron, MO. Sister’s Sharon, Susan and brother Billy. Ten grandchildren, Kelly, Katie, Carra-Lynn, Kayleigh, Jacea, Jaden, Jorden, Alora, Shelby and Garrett. and 7 great grandchildren.
DJ is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Geneva, her stepdaughter Cari, grandchildren Daniel and MyKayla.
Coffey Funeral Home in New Tazewell in providing cremation services. A celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
