Stanley R. Runion

Stanley (Stan) Richard Runion was born November 28th, 1938 in Mount Jackson, Virginia to Lynwood and Nona Runion. He passed on to his eternal rest on May 17th, 2021 in Bayonet Point, Florida. Stan was the youngest of ten siblings. He is survived by his wife Chesterine (Babe) Runion, daughter Stephanie Lynn Runion, sister Nancy Lee Wade and countless nieces and nephews and extended family.

Stan lived life to its fullest in every way possible. While Stan was in high school he nurtured his love of sports and the great outdoors. He went so far as to take a year off before his senior year to earn money to pay for football and graduation.

After graduating from high school, Stan joined the United States Air Force following in the footsteps of his father and brother to serve in the armed forces as a show of his love for his country. He was part of specialized squadron tasked with surveying via photography to implement the expansion of the Ballistic Missile Operations network that is spread across the world.

Stan had many hobbies. He loved his time spent playing slow pitch softball, bowling, golfing, collecting carnival glass, and so much more. These various hobbies would bring him a huge network of friends that he treasured. Stan never met a stranger and was always willing to help with any project that was to be had.

Stan met his beloved Babe on a bowling league. Stan and Babe were married on May 10th, 1969. On January 16th, 1975 they were blessed with the light of their life, their daughter Stephanie Lynn Runion. The family would have innumerable adventures. They have fond memories of taking a cross country trip in a camper, numerous fishing and diving adventures out on the boat, spending time at the farm with extended family and friends, and so much more.

Stan believed in sharing his faith, humor, smile, laugh, jokes and love. He knew that bearing your burden with grace was imperative because you never knew what someone else was going through.

Services for Stan to be held on June 25th, 2021 at 11 AM at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. A caravan will leave from Stan’s church, Grace Bible Church in Hudson, at 9 AM. A celebration of life service and fellowship will be held at Grace Bible Church (9403 Scott St.) at 6 PM.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation in Stan’s name be made to Gideons International for placement of Bibles.
