Paul, a longtime resident of Holiday, and formerly of Boxford, Massachusetts, was born in Chicago, Illinois. The older of two children of the late Paul P. and Laura (LaFleur) Genest, he grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts. After attending public schools, Paul proudly served his country in the Navy during WW2 on the USS Cabot and USS Franklin D. Roosevelt aircraft carriers. He attended Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.
Paul was a devoted husband to Beulah “Penny” Genest for almost 75 years prior to her passing in 2015. He was a talented contractor and master of all trades who was respected and admired for his profound knowledge beyond his chosen vocation. During his younger years, Paul was a volunteer fireman in Boxford, and later worked part-time as a patrolman for the Boxford Police Department. He loved to fish and hunt; and, continued those hobbies well into his 80’s. He enjoyed playing the organ and was an active member of P.R.O.S. (Port Richey Organ Society). He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a dedicated family man, often spending time helping friends and family with various projects – always offering a hand or giving advice, when needed.
Paul leaves behind three daughters, Nancy (Chuck) Mazzeo, Pauline (companion, Robert Skeffington) Lynah, and Dianna (Thomas) Frazier; seven grandchildren, Candy Daniels, Christopher Holley, Thomas Holley, Anthony Mazzeo, Cathy Gardner, Christina Mazzeo, Jeffrey Frazier; and, he was richly blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, a niece, and several nephews, all of whom he loved very much. Paul was predeceased by his beloved sister, Irene Aubert; and, many treasured friends.

Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation. For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life. ~Albert Einstein
