On November 10, 2023, Lewis I Serfas, died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 93. His quick wit, lively sense of fun and humor, adventurous and indomitable spirit was just part of his personality that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Clowning with a costume, he was also known as Curly, Hobo Willy, and Dr. B. Looney. Lewis was a jokester for sure, but also a sweet, loving, and kind man.
He was born in Elmira, NY on October 31, 1930 to Milton I Serfas and Bessie Hills Serfas. Lewis was predeceased by his parents, brother Kenneth Serfas, wife Patricia Phinney Serfas, wife Jean Parsons Serfas, and sons Roger Serfas, David Serfas, and William (Billy) Bailey. He is survived by his daughters Linda Serfas of Gillett, PA, Theresa Serfas (husband-Brian Hunter) of East Berlin, PA, Paula Kilmer Cooke (husband -Jeff) of Port Richey, FL, and Tamie Kilmer Esaias (husband-Sean) of Port Richey, Fl.
He is also survived by many beloved grandchildren (18), great grandchildren (21), and great, great grandchildren (5). Lewis especially cherished the friendship of Chris Beardsley.
Lewis graduated from Southside High School in 1949. He worked at Remington Rand in Elmira, NY, Bradford County Action in Towanda, PA, and owned and operated Lew’s Security Center in Sayre, PA. He moved to Florida in 1996 and worked as a pharmacy tech until 2011. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Family and friends will be received at Meadowlawn Funeral Home, 4244 Madison St, New Port Richey, FL on Friday. Nov. 17, 2023 at 11:00 am. Funeral services will follow at noon. Lewis will be laid to rest at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens, New Port Richey FL.
Lewis always enjoyed his chocolate, whether chocolate milk, hot chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, or chocolate Hershey bars. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for family and friends to enjoy one of Lewis’s favorite chocolates in honor of him. “bump a nose, see you down the road”
